What we collect, why, and who else handles it. Last updated: October 25, 2026.
This policy explains what information xSTELLAR8 collects through this website, why, and who else handles it.
What we collect
- Your account: your name, email address, phone number and a securely hashed version of your password (we never store the password itself). We email you a link to confirm your address before your first practice exam.
- Registrations: the classes you register for (or join the waitlist for), the amount paid and when, and any promo code or group discount used. If a course offers a group discount, we count paid registrations from the same company email domain (for example @yourcompany.com, never Gmail and the like) to see whether it applies.
- Attendance: for each class day, whether you attended and when you arrived and left, recorded by your instructor.
- Practice exams: your answers, scores and timing, so you can review them and track your progress. While an exam is open, the page tells us every 20 seconds that you’re still there and which question you’re on.
- Certificates: if you complete a class, your certificate shows your name, the course, the dates and the hours you attended. Anyone you give its code or link to (for example your employer) can check it.
- Question reports: what you tell us when you report a problem with a practice question, and our reply.
- Live activities: the answers you give in classroom quizzes, Space Races, quick questions and exit tickets.
- Messages: anything you send through our contact or corporate training forms.
- Reviews: if you write one, its text and rating, shown with your first name and last initial (or as “Anonymous student”) only after we approve it. You can edit or delete it any time.
- Questions: a question you send from the FAQ page, with your name and email so we can answer. If we add it to the FAQ, your name is left out.
- Study room: messages you post (shown with your first name, last initial and whether you are a current student, alumni or future student), which room you are in and the status you pick while the page is open. Messages are deleted after 90 days. Other signed-in members can read them and report them.
- Team sharing: if a company manager invites you and you accept, they can see your estimated readiness, your last few full-exam scores, when you last practiced and your class attendance. Nothing is shared before you accept, and you can stop at any time from your dashboard.
- “Tell me when” lists: the email address (and note) you give to hear about new class dates or a new course. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- Study assistant: the text of a question you ask is sent to Anthropic’s Claude to answer it. We don’t store the questions, only a count for the daily limit.
- Study plan and reminders: the days you schedule, your exam date, and, if you turn reminders on, the study days, times and dates you tell us and your time zone. We remind you at most once a day, and every email has a link that stops them.
We don't use advertising or analytics trackers. The site sets one cookie, which keeps you signed in.
Payments
Class registrations and Student Pass subscriptions are paid through Stripe, which also stores the card used for a subscription and runs the billing page where you can update it or cancel. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never reach our servers. We receive confirmation of payment and the amount.
Camera (check-in practice)
simul8R can let you practice the online-proctoring check-in, which asks for photos of you, your ID and your room. If you allow it, your browser's camera is used for those photos only. The photos stay in your browser, are never uploaded or stored by us, and are deleted when the check-in ends. You can practice with placeholder photos instead, or turn check-in practice off on your dashboard.
Who else handles your data
- Cloudflare hosts this website and its database.
- Stripe processes payments.
- Resend delivers our emails (registration confirmations, password resets and, if you turn them on, study reminders).
- Twilio delivers text messages, only if you choose them (see Text messages below).
- OpenAI makes the pictures on this website from our own written descriptions of a scene. We never send it anything about students or visitors.
- Anthropic (Claude) helps us draft blog posts from popular search topics. To see what people search for, we ask Google's public search suggestions about our topic words. We send Anthropic only those searches and our own writing guidelines, never anything about students or visitors. A person reads and approves every post.
We don't sell or share your information with anyone else, except where required by law.
Text messages
If you choose text messages on your account page, you give us a mobile number, confirm it with a code we text you, and agree to receive texts from us: study reminders and class updates. Message frequency varies (usually a few a week), and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to cancel, or HELP for help; you can also turn texts off on your account page. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. We keep a record of when you agreed and the texts we sent you. We use your mobile number only to send you these texts. We do not sell, rent or share your mobile number or text-message consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Our text provider, Twilio, handles the numbers and messages only to deliver them for us.
How we use it
To run your account, register you for classes, deliver and score practice exams, contact you about classes you've registered for (by email or phone), and answer your messages. While you’re in one of their classes (and for 30 days after it ends), your instructor can see your name, email and phone number, your attendance, your live-activity answers, and your practice exams as you take them and for 3 hours after you finish (which question you’re on, how many you’ve answered, how many are right, and your score), so they can help you where you need it. If you're enrolled through your employer, we may share your attendance and practice-exam progress with them.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your account while it's active. You can ask us to send you a copy of your data, correct it or delete your account by contacting us. We keep payment records as long as tax law requires.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
